Council Postpones Decision on Proposed Remembrance Day Crosswalk
During Tuesday's city council meeting, Mayor Blaine Hyggen and Councillor Ryan Parker proposed a motion to design and install a decorative Remembrance Day crosswalk on 4 Ave. S., with a funding cap of $10,000 from council contingencies. However, the motion was swiftly postponed until a Decorative Sidewalks policy can be developed, which is expected to be reviewed by the third quarter of 2025. Councillor Rajko Dodic emphasized the importance of incorporating input from relevant organizations and highlighted a previous resolution regarding decorative sidewalks. Both Hyggen and Parker acknowledged the need to follow proper policy procedures, indicating that future discussions could take place once the policy is in place, ensuring a well-informed decision on the potential crosswalk project.
