Crosswalk Flags Installed Near Rock Spring Park in Arlington - Thanks to the Yorktown Civic Association
Thanks to the Yorktown Civic Association (YCA) for sponsoring the new See Me Flags that were installed near Rock Spring Park at the intersection of Yorktown Blvd. and George Mason Dr. in Arlington. The Association recently had a meeting at Yorktown High School where they invited Arlington Police Department as well as See Me Flags to discuss pedestrian safety. "It was great to hear all about what Lieutenant Kip Malcolm and his team at APD are doing to make our streets safer for pedestrians" commented Grant Yoder. "We are just glad that See Me Flags can contribute to the overall solution that the Association is working on to make their neighborhood safer."
During the meeting Mike Cantwell, the President of the Yorktown Civic Association, stated that "See Me Flags not only increases awareness for drivers, but the flags also alert pedestrians that they are about to enter a dangerous crossing. The flags also reduce the risks of "distracted walking" by forcing pedestrians to put down their phones while they are carrying the flags." Mike and members of the Yorktown community continue to advocate for measures to improve pedestrian safety. The Yorktown Civic Association plans to install more flags throughout the community.
